Question

Dissolving 120 g of urea (mol. wt. 60) in 1000 g of water gave a solution of density 1.15 g/mL. The
molarity of the solution is
(A) 1.78 M                              (B) 2.00 M
(C) 2.05 M                             (D) 2.22 M

Read 2 Solution.

Mass of solute(Wa)=120 g mass of solvent(Wb)=1000g .'. mass of solution= 1120 g density of solution = 1.15 g/ml .'. Volume =1120/1.15 molecular mass of solute=60 g Molarity = mass of solute multiply by 1000 and divide by molecular mass of solute and volume By solving... Molarity= 2.05 M
Best SolutionASHISH RANA 12 year ago is this solution helpfull: 7 0

mass of solution=1000+120=1120

density=1.15

volume=1120/1.15

molerity= moles of solute/v in liter

hence=2.053
