Account For the following
(i) ClF3 exists but FCl3 dosent.?
(ii) Chlorine water loses its color on standing?

1) F can't becoz it is small sized , and max covalency for it can be only one
2)When Chlorine Water (i.e. a solution of chlorine gas in water) is exposed to bright sunlight, the Chlorine is decomposed and a solution of Hydrochloric Acid remains.
H2O + Cl2 ==> HCl + HClO +

1) Fluorine has very small size and thus cannot accomodate 3 big chlorine atoms around it.
