Different oxidation no. are shown by f group elements and it is the property of element so there is no definite rule for getting these ox. no. A general oxidation no. for a family can be understand but if element is showing more oxidation no. then you should remember it by remembering compounds in these oxidation no.

Sir,the electronc configuration of uranium should be [Rn]7s^25f^4 but it is   [Rn]5f^6d^7s^2.   How can 6d orbital (which is higher in energy ) be filled before completing 5f orbital (which is lower in energy)?
